Certification pathways

PADI certification – all the way to Instructor level

Adaptive doesn’t mean “less than” – it means different pathways to the same ocean. For divers who are ready and medically suitable, PASD can support pathways towards formal PADI certification, from your very first course through to professional and Instructor-level training.

Not everyone wants a one-off experience. Some adaptive divers have bigger goals: gaining a recognised qualification, diving independently within safe limits, or even building a long-term future in the dive industry. Where it is realistic and safe to do so, we can help you work towards those goals within the PADI training framework.

  • PADI Open Water Diver – your first full scuba licence and the foundation for all future training.
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver – building confidence and experience in different conditions and environments.
  • PADI Rescue Diver – developing awareness, self-management and skills to assist other divers.
  • PADI Divemaster – the first professional level, assisting with courses and guiding divers under supervision.
  • PADI Instructor-level training – for those who want to teach and inspire new divers as a career or vocation.
  • Industry Partners – All Levels from Beginner to Instructor are completed via High Quality Scuba Industry Partners

Your pathway, your pace

Every certification journey is tailored around the individual. Our PADI Certified Adaptive Techniques Instructors understand how to modify teaching strategies and support levels without compromising safety or training standards.

  • Additional planning and pre-dive discussions with you and your support team.
  • Medical clearance from a diving doctor where required, especially for certain conditions or medications.
  • Extra in-water support, shorter sessions or more steps between each course as needed.
  • Honest conversations about what is realistic at each stage and how we can adjust the plan over time.

If your long-term goal is “I want to become a certified diver” or even “One day I’d like to be a PADI Instructor”, let us know when you get in touch. We’ll talk through your starting point, any medical considerations, and how PASD can support you alongside the PADI training pathway.

The path may be slower and more customised – but with the right planning, PADI certification is a genuine possibility for many adaptive divers, including those aiming for the very highest levels.
